1Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Node Expense: Track Together, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2Description of Service

Node Expense: Track Together is an expense tracking app that allows you to:

• Track individual personal expenses
• Track and split group expenses with other members in real time
• Optionally record your location with expenses
• Sync expenses with selected iOS calendars
• Back up and optionally encrypt your data (PRO subscription feature). Backups cover locally stored personal expense records and cached group data; live group expense data in Firebase Firestore is not included in local backups.
• Export expense data as JSON, CSV, or PDF, and import data in JSON format (PRO subscription feature)
• Scan receipts using your iPhone camera to auto-fill expense details
• Attach receipt photos to expenses (PRO subscription feature). Personal expense photos stay on your iPhone; group expense photos are stored in Firebase Storage and visible to all members of the group.
• Use Pick & Pay to photograph a receipt and let Google Gemini AI identify and itemise individual line items, which you can then convert into expenses (PRO subscription feature; trial users receive one complimentary scan)
• Set an optional profile photo (PRO subscription feature). Profile photos are stored in Firebase Storage and visible to all members of every group you join.
• Set an optional group photo (PRO subscription feature). Group photos are stored in Firebase Storage and visible to all members of that group. Only the group admin can set or change a group photo.
• Create and manage custom expense categories with per-category monthly budgets
• Launch peer payment apps directly from group settlements via deep links to Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal (availability varies by region — see §9)
• Optionally check the numbers on scanned Taiwan electronic invoices (電子發票) against the official government uniform-invoice lottery (統一發票) and receive a notification of a possible win (off by default; the check runs on your iPhone)

Group-related data is synced to Firebase so all group members can view the same information in real time. Personal expense data remains on your iPhone unless you choose to export or back it up.

3Free & Paid Features

Free Tier

Free Trial

• 14-day free trial granting full access to Group Expenses, Data Retention, and Data Migration
• Trial access is tracked per Apple ID and cannot be restarted after expiry
• One complimentary Pick & Pay AI receipt scan (single lifetime use per Apple ID; PRO subscription required for continued use)

PRO Subscription

PRO subscribers receive unlimited access to:

• Unlimited individual expense tracking (no monthly limit)
• Group Expenses — create and join groups, split bills, record settlements
• Data Retention — automatic retention policies with optional AES-256-GCM encrypted backups
• Data Migration — export data as JSON, CSV, or PDF, and import data in JSON format
• Category Budgets — set monthly spending limits per custom category with threshold alerts
• Pick & Pay — AI-powered receipt scanning via Google Gemini that identifies and itemises individual line items for expense entry

Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled via Apple App Store Settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

Cross-Device License Sync (optional). No account or sign-in is required to use Node Expense. If you own PRO on more than one device signed in to the same Apple Account, you may optionally use Sign in with Apple on the Subscription screen to sync your PRO license across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. We request no name or email — only a stable, app-specific identifier used solely to match your license across your devices. You can disconnect any device at any time from the Subscription screen. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Lifetime Subscription

The "Lifetime" pass grants access to PRO features for as long as the App is actively supported and distributed by the Developer. It does not constitute a guarantee that the App or its cloud-synced services (e.g., Firebase, RevenueCat) will be available indefinitely. The "Lifetime" period ends if the App is discontinued, removed from the App Store, or if the Developer ceases operations.

Refunds & Finality: Lifetime purchases are one-time payments. No pro-rated refunds will be offered if the App is discontinued or if certain third-party integrations become unavailable due to platform changes.

4Group Features & Deletion

Group expenses are synced in real time across all members' iPhones via Firebase. By participating in a group, you understand that:

• Your display name, profile photo (if set), and expense data are visible to all members of the group
• Any receipt photos you attach to a group expense are uploaded to Firebase Storage and visible to all members of the group
• The group admin may set a group photo that is visible to all members of the group; this photo is stored in Firebase Storage and is deleted when the group is deleted
• Any member can add expenses to the group (subject to permissions set by the group admin)
• Group deletion requires unanimous consent from all members within a 7-day voting window
• Groups inactive for over 6 months with all debts settled may be deleted automatically if a deletion request is submitted and no member declines within 7 days.
• Group admins can proactively prune eligible inactive groups from Settings → Data & Privacy → Inactive Groups. When an admin initiates deletion this way, all affected group members immediately receive a push notification identifying who deleted the group. The admin chooses to export group expenses, keep them locally, or delete them entirely before the group is removed from Firebase.
• The group admin may remove members or transfer data at any time
• Expenses you choose to keep after group deletion remain on your iPhone locally, marked as from a deleted group; receipt photos for those expenses remain accessible from Firebase Storage. If the deletion is performed with "remove records", every receipt photo for the group is deleted from Firebase Storage and cannot be recovered.
• Activity Log Retention: Group activity history (such as who added, edited, refunded, or deleted an expense, and who joined or left the group) is stored on Firebase Firestore servers and is automatically and permanently deleted after 90 days. Activity older than 90 days cannot be recovered. This retention period applies per group and is not affected by your subscription status.

5No Advertisements

Node Expense displays no advertisements on any tier — neither the free tier nor a PRO subscription. The app contains no advertising SDK, does not track you across other apps or websites for advertising purposes, and does not share your data with advertising networks or data brokers.

6User Responsibility

You are responsible for:

• The accuracy of your expense data
• Your display name and how it appears to other group members
• Protecting access to your iPhone and the app
• Ensuring group members you invite consent to having their data processed as described in our Privacy Policy
• Maintaining access to the iCloud Keychain linked to your Apple ID — encrypted backups cannot be recovered if iCloud Keychain access is lost
• The accuracy of any payment handles or usernames you enter for peer payment apps (e.g., Venmo, Cash App, PayPal). Entering an incorrect handle may result in money being sent to an unintended recipient. Node Expense has no ability to reverse or intercept such transactions, and all liability for misdirected payments rests solely with you
• The accuracy and content of receipt images you submit for Pick & Pay scanning. Images are processed by Google's Gemini API under its paid-tier terms and are not used to train Google's models; Node Expense does not retain the submitted image beyond attaching the resulting receipt photo to your group expense

6.1 User-Generated Content (Profile Photos, Group Photos & Display Names)

Profile photos, group photos, and display names are user-generated content visible to other members of any group you join. By using these features you agree that:

• You will not upload a profile photo, set a group photo, or set a display name that is obscene, sexually explicit, harassing, hateful, threatening, defamatory, infringing, deceptive (such as impersonating another person), or otherwise objectionable.
• You own — or have the right to use — any image you upload as your profile photo or as a group photo. You grant Node Expense a non-exclusive licence to host, distribute, and display that photo for the sole purpose of operating the app's group features.
• Other group members may report your profile photo or display name from within the app. If the group admin has set an inappropriate group photo, any member may report it by long-pressing the admin's name on the Members tab and choosing Report Member. We may, at our sole discretion and without notice, remove any reported content, suspend access to profile-photo, group-photo, or group features, or terminate the account of users who repeatedly violate these rules.
• You may report another member's profile photo or display name by long-pressing their entry in the Members tab and choosing Report Member. This opens an email to our support address with the relevant context pre-populated. Reports are reviewed manually within a reasonable time.
• Removing a reported photo from Firebase Storage is not retroactive — iPhones that have already cached the photo may retain a local copy until the next sync.

We are not responsible for data loss due to iPhone loss, accidental deletion, encryption key loss, or user error.

7Data Ownership

You retain full ownership of your expense data. We do not claim ownership of your personal expense records, group data, or exported files. By using group features, you grant other group members the ability to view shared expense data within the app.

8Availability

We strive to keep the app and its cloud services available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Firebase and RevenueCat availability may be affected by third-party outages beyond our control. Group sync features depend on an active internet connection.

Service Life Cycle

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the App or any features within it with or without notice. In the event of a permanent sunset, the Developer may, at its sole discretion, provide a final "local-only" update but is not obligated to maintain cloud servers or real-time sync indefinitely.

9Limitation of Liability

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

• Financial losses, missed expenses, or data inaccuracies
• Loss of encrypted backup data due to lost or inaccessible encryption keys
• Loss of group expense data stored in Firebase Firestore that was not explicitly exported prior to group deletion, iPhone loss, or app removal
• Data loss due to third-party service outages (Firebase, RevenueCat, exchange-rate provider)
• Inaccurate group settlement calculations due to incorrect data entry
• For Lifetime Access: the Developer's total liability shall not exceed the actual amount paid by the user for said subscription
• Inaccurate, incomplete, or misinterpreted results from Pick & Pay AI receipt scanning. Google Gemini may misread amounts, item names, or currencies — you are responsible for verifying all extracted data before saving
• Inaccurate, missed, or delayed Taiwan uniform-invoice lottery (統一發票) results. The in-app check is provided as a convenience only — a possible win is unofficial until you verify it with Taiwan's Ministry of Finance, and you must retain the printed invoice to claim any prize. We do not guarantee that a winning number will be detected or reported, and we are not responsible for any prize that is missed, expires, or cannot be claimed
• Inaccurate currency conversions in reports or summaries. Exchange rates are retrieved from a third-party provider for convenience, are approximate, and may not reflect the rate on any given transaction date — you are responsible for verifying converted amounts before relying on them
• Reliance on exported expense or reimbursement reports. Reports are provided as a convenience and are not certified accounting or tax documents. You are responsible for their accuracy and for compliance with any employer, reimbursement, or tax-reporting requirements

No Payment Processing: Node Expense is not a payment processor and does not transmit, hold, or process money of any kind. The deep-link feature launches third-party apps (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal) solely as a convenience; all transactions occur entirely within those apps and are subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. Node Expense bears no responsibility for any payment made through those platforms.

Regional Availability: Venmo and Cash App are available to U.S. users only. PayPal availability varies by country. Non-U.S. users may find that one or more deep-link payment options do not function in their region. This does not constitute a misrepresentation of the app's features.

10Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the app or its cloud-synced features if misuse is detected, including unauthorized access attempts, spamming group members, or circumventing subscription or ad systems.

11Changes to Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. The "Last Updated" date will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

12Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of the State of New York.

13Service Discontinuation (Sunset Policy)

We reserve the right to discontinue the App at any time. In the event of a permanent sunset:

• Notice: At least 30 days' notice via in-app notification
• Lifetime Access: Grants access only for the duration of the App's availability on the App Store
• Data Portability: Users will have a window to export their locally stored data via JSON, CSV, or PDF before Firebase is deactivated. Note that only locally cached data is included in exports — group expenses should be reviewed before Firebase shutdown.
• No Refunds: No pro-rated refunds will be issued upon discontinuation
• Final Update: We may release a "Local Only" update at our discretion
